
For 2017, granite was the most produced solid mineral resource in Nigeria. The total quantity of granite produced was 17.5 million tons. Ogun state produced the largest quantity of this resource to the tone of 11 million tons while Abuja followed with 3.5 million tons. These two states combined accounted for 86% of the granite produced in Nigeria.
Sequentially, Kano state produced approximately 630,000 tons, Ebonyi state produced 360,000 tons, Adamawa produced 349,000 tons, Cross River produced 285,000 tons while Abia state produced 154,000 tons.
The states with the least amount of granite produced are Benue with approximately 15500 tons, Yobe state with 8,000, Kogi with 5,000 tons, Kebbi with 3,800 tons and finally, Delta state with 2300 tons.
In contrast, states like Akwa Ibom, Anambra, Bauchi, Bayelsa, Borno, Edo, Enugu, Imo, Lagos, Ondo, Plateau, Rivers and Sokoto recorded zero production of granite within these specified locations.
