The top ten products imported into Nigeria for the first quarter of 2018 were motor spirit ordinary, gas oil, durum wheat (not in seeds), cane sugar(for sugar refinery), imported motorcycles and cycles, imported CKD by established manufacturers, durum wheat(seed), other herbicides (anti-sprouting products), used vehicles (with diesel or semi-diesel engine) and lubricating oils.
Nigeria’s imports totalled 1.1 billion naira, a 36% increase from the previous quarter of 2017 which totalled 704 million naira.
This might be as a result of the massive increase in the trade volume of Motor Spirit Ordinary imported into Nigeria. Motor Spirit Ordinary accounted for 28% of the total product imports to Nigeria, a 57% increase in the previous quarters’ share.
