Google has released 2017 “Year In Search” publication showcasing the top search trends across the world and specific countries. In Nigeria, the death of popular nollywood actress, Moji Olaiya, was one of the most searched events in 2017. The late actress was also the most googled person in Nigeria. The notorious kidnapper, Evans, came second the list after he was arrested by the Nigerian police. Adesua Etomi, Donald Trump and (surprisingly) Mr. Eazi make up the top 5.
In the music category, Olamide’s Wo! was the most searched song in Nigeria. Davido’s trio of hits – FIA, Fall & IF – came 2nd, 3rd & 5th respectively. In 4th place is the viral Ghanaian song, One Corner, which took the internet by storm.
In the question category, “Is Buhari Dead?” was the most asked question on Google in 2017. This was followed by “How to check JAMB result?” and “How to check WAEC result?”. The surprising inclusion is the “What is a female hyena called?” question which came in 4th position.
