According to recently released data by the National Bureau of Statistics, over 4,355 packaged water products were registered in 2017. Packaged water was the most registered commodity by NAFDAC. Packaged water (popularly known as “pure water”) alone accounted for more than one-third of the total number of product registration applications. This is a 17% increase compared to the previous year 2016 where 2,623 packaged water products were registered.
Following packaged water was food with 2459 products registered, human drugs with 1972 products registered, cosmetics with 1231 products and herbal drugs with 348 products registered. These are the top 5 product categories with the highest number of product registrations.
